JAMMU, Jan 9: Ice skating team of India dominated the Ice Rink International Championship 2020 by winning 28 medals at Singapore, recently.
Ice skating team India comprising of 55 skaters and five coaches participated in the short track speed 222m, 777m, 500m , 2000 m, 3000m with relay 2000m, 3000m normal and mixed respectively while the mixed gender men and women was the main thrilling and attractive even of the international championship.
Prior to the championship, a coaching camp was held from December 27 to January 3, 2020.
14 countries participated in the championship.
With the coordination, team work and strategy of five international experienced coaches namely Mohd Ashraf Dijoo (J&K), Souboot from Mumbai, K. Shrikanta Rao from Karnataka, Gitesh Vidiay of Maharashtra and Ab Qadeer of Telangana, the team India made a history by wining 28 medals including eight Gold, nine Silver and 11 Bronze.
All the winners were felicitated by Chang, President of Asian Skating Union in the presence of other dignitaries. The team India and coaches were lauded by R K Gupta, president of Ice Skating Association of India for this bumper achievments.
