JAMMU, Mar 20: The Jammu and Kashmir Academy of Art, Culture and Languages today announced 19 Awards for University, College and School students who participated in the “State Level Essay Writing Competition 2014” under Talent Hunt Scheme and adjudged best in the contest.
Haroon Rashid, Secretary Academy, while announcing the results said that Padamshree Dr Jitender Udhampuri, Regional Director ICCR, Prof Ayaz Rasool Nazki and Dr Lalit Gupta, Prominent Art Historian were in jury while Dr Javaid Rahi, Chief Editor of Academy was supervising the Scheme aimed to attract new generation especially the Students of various educational institutions of Jammu and Kashmir to write essays on the issues related to Art, Culture and Languages .
He said under the scheme the PG level students of State Universities were asked to write essay on “Preservation of Cultural Heritage” while as for the college students , the topic was “Cultural Diversity of Jammu and Kashmir” added that “Importance of Mother Tongue” topic was allotted to Students of various Schools up-to class 12th for writing essay comprising of around 3000 words.
In University Level competition Tazeem Akhtar, Department of Economics, University of Jammu got First Prize of Rs. 25000, while Owais Ahmad Sofi , Department of History, University of Kashmir claimed Second prize of Rs. 15000.00 . Gopal Singh, Department of Dogri, University of Jammu and Amir Sultan, Department of Psychology, University of Kashmir shared third prize of Rs. 10000 each.
Three Consolation prizes of Rs 7000 each went to Mariya Shafat Shah Kirmani, Department of Computer Sciences, University of Kashmir, Samir Khan, Department of Economics, University of Jammu and Satvinder Kour, Department of Geography, University of Jammu.
He said in College level competition Shiekh Erose Sumreen Hafeez, Govt. Medical College, Jammu got first prize of Rs. 15000 while Rizwan Rashid, Govt Degree College, Sopore, and Sidra Nazir, Govt College of Education, Srinagar adjudged second and third best and got Rs. 10,000.00 Rs. 7000 prizes respectively. Three Consolation prizes Rs. 5000 each goes to Taimun Qaisar Govt. College Women MA Road, Srinagar, Shubum Tuli, G G M Sc. College, Jammu and Nireeksha, F V Sc & AH, SKUAST, Jammu.
He said in School level competition Kanhiya Lal Sharma, St. Antony’s Convent School, Samba adjudged best and got first prize Rs. 10000 while Anmol Rathore, G D Goenka Public School, Jammu got second prize of Rs 7000 third prize of Rs 5000 and Panini Sharma of J P School, Jammu
Rayess Ahmad Khan, Govt Hr Seconday School, Dailgam, Anantnag, Suruch Gupta MRAC School, Jammu and Rahila Rashid, Govt. Girls Hr. School, Sopore, Kashmir won three Consolation prizes of Rs 3000 each.
Secretary Academy said that the Award Ceremony will be held shortly at Jammu.
