JAMMU, Feb 4: Tawi Trekkers J&K today released calendar of activities which commence with circumambulation of Trikuta Hills (Vaishno Devi)-a three day trek from Katra to Katra via Sukhalghati and Jangle Gali in the first week of the March.
The calendar was released by patron of Club, Rahul Sharma, Chairman Sprawling Buds ICSE School, Bantalab along with Ram Khajuria, president, Sakshi Magotra, joint secretary and senior members Vivek Chauhan, Sumit Khajuria, Narinder Singh and Sunil Chakharia.
Ram Khajuria mentioned that last year most of the activities could not be undertaken due to Covid 19 and therefore have been included in this year’s program. Accordingly, the club shall organize two trekking expeditions in Dhauladhar Range in Himachal Pradesh including one to Triund (10000ft) for junior members and another from Dalhousie to Chamba exclusively for senior citizens. Besides, a heritage trekking programme in Kangra shall also be organized for about 200 students during the months of October to December, 2022.
The Club is also focused on an international expedition to Mount Elbrus in May, the highest peak of Europe in Russia. Subject to opening up of international flights and finalization of all other arrangements.
To spot the talent in sport climbing at the grass root level the club has an ambitious plan of conducting regular coaching camps and monthly competitions including physically and visually challenged ones, besides an open UT level sport climbing competition in October.
