Jammu, Nov 3: Tawi Trekkers J&K celebrated its 43rd Anniversary and Prize Distribution Function in a grand manner at the Press Club of Jammu, here.
The ceremony was graced by chief guest B R Sharma, IAS (Retd.), former Chief Secretary of J&K; presiding guest Anil Goswami, IAS (Retd.), former Home Secretary of India; Patron Rahul Sharma, Chairman, Sprawling Buds ICSE School, Jammu; and Padma Shri Prof. Lalit Magotra, President, Dogri Sanstha Jammu.
The highlight of the event was Mohit Knathia, the youngest Everester from J&K, who received the “Duggar Gaurav Adventure Award” for scaling Mount Everest on May 18, 2025, at the age of 18. Subedar Major Balkar Singh, Everest double-scaler, was named “Most Outstanding Mountaineer of J&K.” Sushil Singh was honoured with the “Narinder Singh Slathia Dedication Award” for his dedicated service to the club. Everesters Ram Singh Slathia and Falail Singh, along with Wing Commander Rajesh Mukhi, were also felicitated.
Institutions honoured for their contributions included Sprawling Buds ICSE School, Bantalab; MHAC School, Nagbani; Aryan Oriental Convent Hr. Sec. School, Udhampur; Oriental Academy Sr. Sec.
