Taj to inaugurate 4th Rajiv Gandhi Gold Cup Football Tourney tomorrow

JAMMU, Feb 8: Minister for Sports and Technical Education Taj Mohi-ud-Din will inaugurate the 4th Rajiv Gandhi Gold Cup Football tournament at Government Gandhi Memorial (GGM) Science College Football Ground on February 10.
This was stated by Narinder Gupta, president of All J&K Indira Gandhi People’s Association during a press conference here today.
He said that the tournament is being organised with an aim to promote and popularize the game of football in J&K.
He added that the 4th Rajiv Gandhi Gold Cup Football Tournament will be organised under the aegis of J&K Football Association.
Gupta informed that a total of 24 teams are participating in the tournament, which will be played on knockout basis.
He added that all clubs/teams must report to the referees of the match at field atleast 30 minutes before the scheduled time.
“Walkover will be awarded in favour of clubs/teams present on the field if their opponent teams/clubs did not reach in time”, he added.
The championship will be played under the rules and regulations of JKFA, he said, adding that only four local players are authorized to play from any football club and only three foreigner players are allowed in the side at a time and only two players are allowed in the 11 side.
The entry fee for the championship is Rs 300, which should be deposited with the organizing secretary 30 minutes before the start of the match.
