TRAL, Dec 23: Minister for Medical Education, Youth Services & Sports, Taj Mohi-ud-Din laid the foundation stone of a Rs 15 crore sports stadium at Bugani here today.
Addressing the function after laying the foundation, the Minister said the proposed stadium would be laced with all the standard facilities and amenities for playing all games. He said given these facilities the sports complex would also be used to play and host matches and tournaments of State and national level.
Mr. Taj said he is very optimistic about the creative capabilities of local youth and it is only a matter of exposure that these youth need for showing their mettle. He directed the executing agencies to ensure completion of the works within the stipulated time schedule. He asked the local youth to take benefits of the stadium once it is ready.
In the first phase the volleyball and football fields would be constructed and in the second phase indoor stadium and cricket field would be made at a cost of Rs.15crore.
Earlier, welcoming the Minister, Surinder Singh Channi thanked Mr. Taj for taking keen interest in the development of Tral area. He hoped Mr. Taj would continue to do the same in coming times as well. He said Mr. Taj has already committed development works in the area to the tune of Rs. 20 crore. These works, he said, are set to change the development profile of the area.
Despite inclement weather, people in good numbers had gathered to receive the Minister and listen to him.
Former legislator, Haji Abdul Rashid also addressed the gathering.
Secretary, J&K State Sports Council, DileepThusu and other officers of district administration were present on the occasion.
