KATHUA, Aug 19: Tagore Vidyarthi Vikas Sanstha today organised ‘Tagore Gaurav Awards-3’ in the auditorium of Government Degree College, here today.
The function started with lightening of the traditional lamp by the chief guest Mubarak Singh, Deputy Commissioner, Samba, followed by welcome address by the president, Sanjay Sehgal, who highlighted the work done by the Sanstha with regard to helping the needy students to continue their studies.
The function was presided over by Dr Netar Singh, Principal Govt Degree College Kathua. The mementos for ‘Tagore Gaurav award-3’ were presented in the memory of late Sardari Lal Gupta – a renowned educationist to the meritorious students for their outstanding performance in different fields.
74 awards were distributed among the students of the district Kathua.
The programme was also witnessed by Zahida Parveen Khan Deputy Commissioner Kathua.
The chief guest Mubarak Singh in his speech appreciated the achievements of the Sanstha.
Zahida Parveen Khan, guest of honour, in her address exhorted upon the audience to come forward for the promotion of literacy. She donated Rs 3000 as a token of love for the welfare of the students.
Rajinder Gupta, Executive Engineer, University of Jammu who is the founder of the Sanstha, in his speech requested the audience to join the Sanstha for social cause.
On the occasion PP Singh, Retd Principal and Abhishek Sharma Branch Manger HDFC, also addressed the audience.
The function was attended by members of the executive body KD Khajuria, Lalit Dogra, Subash Chander Sharma, Deepak Gupta, Akash Kohli, Sohail Mahajan, Deepak Vaid, Rohit Nanawat, Dr Pritam Singh, Balbir Singh, and Krishan Lal Sharma.
