TA lifts title trophy of Volleyball tournament

JAMMU, Feb 18: TA-157 emerged winner of Pt Dev Raj Khajuria Memorial Volleyball Tournament and lifted title trophy by defeating Samba Warriors by 3-1 sets (25-20, 21-25, 25-23 & 25-20), played at MA Stadium, here today.
Dr Saleem-Ur- Rehman, Director General Youth Services and Sports, JK UT was the chief guest of the event. He lauded the efforts of the organizers for inculcating sportsmanship among the youths by organising such tournament in the name of dignitaries.
The DG said that a Synthetic Volleyball Courts is being developed at Samba which will benefit the budding players soon. The chief guest also honoured the president of the Trikuta Volleyball Club with memento for organising this tournament.
Ashok Singh, Divisional Sports Officer Jammu JKSC was the guest of honour. He distributed trophies and cash prizes to the winner and runner up teams of the championship.
The matches were officiated by Amarjit Singh Sudan, Amit Sharma, Bhavna Sharma, Shubhan Sharma, Anil Kumar and Mulkh Raj Sharma.
The first semi-final match was played between TA and Trikuta Volleyball Club wherein TA beat Trikuta Volleyball Club by 3-1 sets (25-17, 25-18, 18-25 and 25-18) and in 2nd semi-final Samba Warriors trounced Senior State-A team by 3-1 sets (25-21, 25-23,22-25 & 30-28).
