KATHUA, May 11: A symposium on the theme ‘Mission Life Campaign’ was organized by the Debate and Literary Committee of Govt. Degree College Kathua in collaboration with the Department of Social Forestry in the College premises, here today.
Sandeep Majotra, DDC Member Nagri Parole was the chief guest and Principal of the host College, Prof. Seema Mir was the guest of honour and Munish Bhardwaj, District Forest Officer Kathua presided over the function.
The programme was aimed to create awareness about preservation of the environment and its conservation at a larger scale. The programme started with lighting of the lamps, followed by the formal welcome address by Prof. Seema Mir (Principal). In her address, the Principal highlighted the achievements of the College.
Twelve students actively participated in the competition and made the audience aware about the burning issues related to the environment.
A sapling was also planted by the chief guest and guest of honour in presence of District Forest Officer and other officials in the College premises.
The competition was conducted under the overall supervision of Prof. Seema Mir, while Dr Deepshikha HoD EVS, Dr. Amita Dua and Dr Kamaldeep Singh acted as the judges for the symposium.
The chief guest appreciated the staff and the College Principal for their effort for organizing this awareness programme. The proceedings of the programme were conducted by Prof. Shivani Kotwal, organizing secretary of the poster making competition.
Later, the certificates were distributed to the participating students and the winners of the poster making competition by the chief guest. The programme concluded with the vote of thanks, presented by Prof. Raj Kiran convenor of the debate and symposium committee.
