Suryansh knock goes in vain as Satish, Chander help SCC to lift trophy

JAMMU, Dec 26: A brilliant knock of 81 runs off 97 balls by Suryansh Raina went in vain as the duo of Satish and Chander displayed class and composure to help Shastri Cricket Club outplay KC Sports Club in a thrilling contest and lift the title of 1st Christmas Cup Cricket Tournament, organized by Country Cricket Academy at Gharota, near here today.
Earlier, winning the toss and batting first, KC Sports Club rode on a splendid innings of 81 runs by Suryansh and managed to score a decent total of 158 runs in the stipulated 20 overs. He played superbly and was harsh on loose balls. Surya and Abhshant also contributed 15 runs each off 13 and 19 balls respectively. For Shastri Club, Raman was the wrecker-in-chief, who bagged 4 important wickets, while Deepak Dogra claimed 2 wickets.
In reply, Shastri Cricket Club sailed on superb batting display by Satish Kumar and Chander to chase the target in the last over and help their team to lift the title. Satish scored 63 runs off 54 balls, while Chander contributed 54 runs off 33 balls. Both the batsmen were in sublime touch and hit the ball with fluid grace and utter brilliance. Satish was adjudged as man of the match for his fabulous knock.
The winners were presented a trophy by former Ranji Trophy Player and Director of Country Cricket Academy, Vivek Sharma
The match was officiated by Raju and Sheru as umpires, while Sahil maintained the score-book.
