JAMMU, Jan 10: The Jammu and Kashmir Sub-Junior Taekwondo Team was screened and flagged off by J&K Sports Council at Taekwondo Training Centre, MA Stadium, here today, ahead of their participation in the 39th National Sub-Junior Kyorugi and 14th National Sub-Junior Poomsae Taekwondo Championships 2025–26. The Championships will be held from January 13 to 15, 2026, at Talkatora Indoor Stadium, New Delhi.
The screening and flag-off ceremony was conducted in the presence of Iqbal Singh, Divisional Sports Officer, J&K Sports Council, Jammu, who interacted with the players and appreciated their dedication, discipline and preparation. He extended best wishes to the contingent for a commendable performance at the national level.
The event was also attended by Anuj Sharma, Joint Secretary, J&K Taekwondo Association and Atul Pangotra, International Taekwondo Player and Coach, who motivated the young athletes to represent Jammu and Kashmir with pride and sportsmanship.
The boys’ team includes Shivaay Gupta, Abhay Partap, Divyansh Khametra, Yakshit Thakur, Mirgesh Spolia, Samrat Singh, Syed Kashif Hussain, Rehaan Gupta and Tajdeep Singh, while the girls’ team comprises Rudrakshi, Saavi Sharma, Pranshi Sharma, Syed Imrat Jaan, Kiana Upadhyaya and Namanya Varma.
The team will be accompanied by Amit Kumar, Syed Ashiq Husain and Kausar Jaan as coaches and managers. The J&K Sports Council and J&K Taekwondo Association expressed confidence in the team’s potential to excel at the National Championships.
