STC Warriors, STC Terriers, BSF Red Demons sail in semis

JAMMU, June 8: STC boys continued their dominance in the ongoing Jammu Open Basketball Championship, with both STC warriors and STC Terriers sailing into the semis. While STC warriors entered semis in style, winning their last two engagements against SOS and Jodhamal Public School by 54-16 and 46-14 respectively, STC Terriers tasted defeat at the hands of BSF Red Demons.
While SOS and KCIS were locked in the pool with equal points, the winner amongst them will be decided according to the rules of classification to decide the fourth team in the semis.
Abhinav Sharma was the star of STC Warrior’s win against SOS in the morning, scoring 16 points and grabbing 9 rebounds. In the second match of the team, Rohan Sharma and Gourav Rawal displayed exemplary offensive skills.
In other matches, Jodhamal Public school by defeated Jammu district by 31-22 with Harsh contributing 12 points for the winners, while KCIS defeated SOS 38-30 with Arsh contributing 18 points for the winners.
The matches were officiated by Harpreet Singh, BFI referee, Ranbir Singh and Gourav Malik, both NIS coaches, Rajesh Bandral, Rajesh Bhagat, Sumit Dogra, Vaneet Pangotra, Shubham Sharma, Abhishek and Vinod Dogra, all JKBA referees.
The semi finals will be played tomorrow morning while finals will be played in the evening.
The tournament is being organized under the aegis of J&K Basketball Association, SAI Training Centre and J&K State Sports Council under the supervision of Senior SAI coaches, Amarjit Singh and Aman Sharma.
