State Rugby 7’s C’ship concludes

SRINAGAR, Dec 21: The 3 days long State Rugby 7’s Championship 2015 concluded at Bakshi Stadium, here today.
District Srinagar lifted overall championship. 10 districts across the State took part in both boys and girls events District Bandipora emerged as runners up in the championship.
Mushtaq Ahmad,Divisional Sports Officer Kashmir was the chief guest on the occasion, who distributed prizes and certificates among the participants. He expressed his happiness that the players from the far flung districts took part in the event and said that Rugby is giving its roots in the State and the day is not far when Rugby will be one of the popular sports in our State.
During the championship, the selection of the teams was made for the Sub Junior Boys and Girls National Championship which is to be held at Ahmedabad, Gujarat from January 14 to 16, 2016. The 21 days coaching camp will be held in Srinagar by the end of this month, said Irfan Aziz, General Secretary , J&K Rugby Association.
The Championship was played in all 4 age groups viz Sub junior, Junior and under 19 boys and girls and senior men and women age groups in three days Championship. The Championship was organised by J&K Rugby Association and Sponsored by J&K State Sports Council.
