State Pencak Silat team wins runners-up trophy in Nationals

JAMMU, June 24: The State team of Pencak Silat emerged runners-up in Sub Junior and Pre Teen Boys and Girls National Championship at LNCT College, Bhopal.
The State team won 17 gold, 15 silver and 20 bronze medals in this 3-day Championship, which concluded yesterday.
Over 1000 players from 32 State teams from across the country took part in this mega event. Maharashtra state was declared as the overall champion, followed by J&K as runners-up, while Manipur and Madhya Pradesh jointly claimed 3rd place.
The championship was organised by Pencak Silat Association of Madhya Pradesh under the aegis of Indian Pencak Silat Federation and sponsored by Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, Government of India and Sports Authority of India.
Secretary J&K State Sports Council, Dr Naseem Javaid Choudhary congratulated the State team and coaches for this achievement.
