JAMMU, Mar 9: Sailing on brilliant batting display by Vimarsh Kaw and Sahil Bhalwal, star-studded AG’s XI defeated Geological Survey of India (GSI) by 28 runs as semifinals position has been cleared in the ongoing Cricket Tournament, being organized by the Central Government Employees Welfare Coordination Committee (CGEWCC) at GGM Science College Hostel ground, here.
Earlier, winning the toss and batting first, AG’s XI scored a decent total of 168 runs in the stipulated 20 overs, losing 4 wickets in the process. Vimarsh Kaw top scored with 58 runs off 43 balls, including 4 boundaries, while Sahil contributed 44 runs off 30 balls, studded with 4 boundaries and one six. Bandeep Singh chipped in with 10 runs, while Aditya Partap Singh and Anoop Mangotra remained not out. For GSI, Varun Mandotra took 3 important wickets, while Varun Bara and Krishan Paul claimed one wicket each.
In reply, GSI bundled out for 140 runs, thus lostthe match by 28 runs. Krishan Paul was the top scorer with 36 runs, while Ajaz, Varun Mandotra and Deepak contributed 29, 28 and 16 runs to the total respectively.
Shashi Jmawal and Sanjeev Sharma were the umpires, while Deepak Balotra was the scorer.
Chairman of Sports Committee CGEWCC Jammu, Sham Lal was present on the occasion.
In tomorrow’s fixture, Survey of India will take on Doordarshan in the first semifinal at 9 am, while in the second semifinal, AG’s Office will take on Intelligence Bureau at 1 pm.
