POONCH, Mar 9: 5th Poonch District Indian Style Wrestling Championship, organized by District Poonch Indian Style Association, under the aegis of J&K Indian Style Wrestling Association concluded at Sports Stadium, here today.
The Championship was sponsored by Jammu and Kashmir State Sports Council.
In the championship more than 40 wrestlers from various tehsils and clubs of the District participated in the event in the weight categories 50k Kg,55 Kg, 61 Kg, 667Kg, 75 Kg and 85Kg.
The Championship was held under the overall supervision of Bansi Lal Tidyal (Retired Tehsildar) and General Secretary of JK ISWA.
Bouts were officiated by Kewal Kumar and Sanjeev Kumar Sharma (Wrestler).
Krishna Lal Sharma, retired Sports Officer J&K State Sports Council was the chief guest on the occasion, who distributed medals, trophies and certificates among the meritorious wrestlers in the event.
Tehsil Havelli emerged overall winner of the Championship.
The vote of thanks was presented by Ravinder Singh Khalsa, General Secretary of Poonch District Indian style wrestling Association.
The gold medal winners in various age categories included Sahil Sharma, Nawab Ahmed, Rameez Ahmed, Yasir Irfat, Mohd Tariq and Puneet Kumar, while the silver medals went to Azad Ahmed, Mohd Shakeel, Nazakat Hussain, Zahoor Ahmed, Mohd Ilyas and Sunit Sharma. The brone medals in each category were shared by Amit Kumar and Bilal Sheikh; Sunil Kumar and Prince Kumar; Shahied Anjum and Kannaj Sharma; Mohd Mudasir and Basharat Ahmed and Saurav Bali and Rajesh Kumar.
