JAMMU, Oct 22: Team effort helped Stadium XI to register a 9-wicket win over Academy XI in the ongoing Col RN Chopra Academy Challenge Cup, in which the matches of Under-16 boys got underway, here today.
The Challenge Cup is being held in Under-12, Under-14 and Under-16 boys age categories at Col RN Chopra Academy Grounds, here.
Earlier, bating first, Academy XI bundled out for a paltry total of 91 runs in 24 overs. Aditya Uppal, Jaideep Bakshi and Sarthak Peshin contributed 16, 14 and 10 runs to the total respectively. For Stadium XI, Yogesh Sikka, Tayyab Farooq and Vivrant bagged 2 wickets each. Yogesh was the pick among the lot, scalping 2 wickets by conceding just 9 runs in his 6 overs, bowling 3 maidens.
In reply, Stadium chased the target easily in 17.3 overs by losing 1 wicket, thus won the match by 9 wickets. Ritham was the only batsman to get out, while Kanahiya Wadhawan and Sanchit Dass remained unbeaten on 34 and 18 runs respectively. Both the batsmen were in sublime touch and hit the ball with utmost timing and fluidity. Sujit Kumar was the only successful bowler for Academy XI, who took the lone wicket of Ridham. For his brilliant bowling display, Yogesh Sikka was declared man of the match.
The Tournament, in which 4 teams are participating, is being held under the supervision of Rakesh Basin, Zabeer Ahmad, Sukomal Ganguly and Deepak Dogra. The participating teams include Sidhant Cricket Academy, Eleven Star Cricket Club, Stadium XI and the hosts Academy XI.
