POONCH, Aug 1: District Hockey Championship in sub-junior, junior and senior categories for men and women, organized by Hockey Poonch under the aegis of Hockey J&K, commenced at Sports Stadium, here today.
Three teams in each category will compete for the title. Today’s matches were played in sub-junior and senior category for men.
The first match in sub-junior category was played between Stadium Orange A and Stadium XI, in which former emerged winner by five goals to zero. The goals were scored by Shaid in 5th minute, Kavleen in 11th minute, Rahul in 27th minute and Akash in 44th minute.
The first match in senior category was played between Stadium Blue and Stadium Orange B, in which former emerged winner by 4-0 goals. The goals were netted by Sohil in 2nd minute, Imran in 28th minute and Shobit in 49th minute.
On the occasion, Mohan Choudhary, DFO was chief guest, while DySP Headquarters Mohammad Rafi Giri was the guest of honour. Nirdosh Kumar, Incharge Sports Stadium, Tanveer Dar, Ramesh Kumar, Mustaq Ahmed, Boxing Coach and Ravinder Singh were also present.
The matches were officiated by Mukesh Kumar, Hockey Coach, Pawan Kumar, Hockey Coach, Satish, Sohil, Kavaldeep Singh and Rohit.
The Championship is being organised under the overall supervision of Sham Lal Sharma, Retd SAI Hockey Coach and Vice President of Hockey J&K.
