SSB organizing Talent Hunt Football Tournament at Jammu from June 12

JAMMU, June 1: A Football tournament is going to be organized at Jammu by Sashstra Seema Bal (SSB) for Under-19 Boys and Girls of six States including Sikkim, Himachal Pradesh, Assam, Uttar Pradesh, J&K and Telengana from June 12 to 18, 2017.
The decision in this regard was taken in a meeting held in the chamber of Manvendra Singh Negi, DIG Jammu Sector, wherein the ongoing preparation of this mega event was reviewed.
Ajay Kumar, Commandant, VS Jamwal, Second-in-Command, NS Negi, Joint Area Organizer, Rajeev Sharma, Deputy Commandant and Sanjeev Kumar, Deputy Commandant were present during the meeting.
“Oorja” by CAPF Under-19 Football Talent Hunt tournament for Boys and Girls was kicked off on May 1, 2017at Sree Kanteerava Stadium by unveiling the mascot and logo of the tournament followed by an exhibition match by Manvendra, Deputy Inspector General, Sashstra Seema Bal, Sector Jammu, in presence of all other members of OORJA CAPF 2017.
Mr Manvendra said that the event has been designed keeping the objective in mind to give an opportunity to every child of the country to play football.
The objectives of the tournament is to be part of mission XI million, to create fervour among the youth of India towards football, to select promising players to represent our country in Asian Championship and to recruit young and emerging players in CAPF. The tournament is being organized in 3 phases enlisting separate matches for boys and girls.
Giving the background of the tournament Sh Manvendra, informed that total 12 Football teams, six each of boys and girls of various States will participate in the 2nd phase of the tournament. Total 6 teams each of Boys & Girls from all over India will be selected for the third phase of the event. In the third phase selected teams will be grouped into two pools and will play with each team of the pool on league basis (total 20 matches).
Top teams of both the pools will fight in the final match of 3rd phase. The winner team will be the national champion of Prime Ministers football tournament under-19 (boys & girls).Topper team of second phase i.e. 06 teams will qualify for the third phase. Third phase matches will be conducted at Delhi.
Mr Manvendra further said that a Cub named “abru” is the mascot for the tournament which epitomizes unbridled energy, youthful exuberance, zest for life and incredible desire for success and achievements.
He further said that for smooth conduct of the second phase in Jammu state, various organizing committees have been formed.
“Over 264 young footballers will play more than 20 matches in the month. The prizes for second phase are Rs100,000 for winner team, Rs 60,000 for runners-up and Rs 40,000 for third place. A running Trophy will be rewarded to the winner in the second phase in addition, there will be trophies/prizes for best player of the tournament, best goalkeeper and best scorer,” Mr Manvendra informed.
