Srinagar gears up for first I-league match

Srinagar, Nov 5: Despite inclement weather in the Kashmir, Srinagar is all set to witness first I-league match.
Such type of football match is being held in the State for the first time in which a local club namely Real Kashmir Football Club has qualified. “It’s a golden moment for the football lovers of the Valley. Football has been always loved here. Witnessing a match of such level would boost the game,” Waseem Ahmad, a football lover said, adding such games would inculcate professionalism among the players.
A total of 10 home matches are to be played by Real Kashmir Football Club against top clubs of the Country.
David Robertson, coach of Real Kashmir Football Club, said the team is excited and hoped that lots of people show up for the game. “We hope people will support us so that we can put on a good show,” he said during a press conference here.
He said the changed weather would, hopefully, help them to perform better. “The weather is nice and cold and we are used to such conditions back home in Scotland,” he said.
The event is being organized by National Football Federation in association with JK State Sports Council. Large number of spectators are expected to witness the matches. The total seating capacity at the venue is 5000.
Star Sports HD channel will telecast all matches live for the outside and abroad audience.
The match would be played at TRC Synthetic Turf Stadium from tomorrow.
