JAMMU, Oct 23 : Minister for Revenue, Relief and Rehabilitation Raman Bhalla has said that the Government was expanding advanced sports edifice in the State with focus on rural and remote pockets.
This was stated by the Minister while chairing a function of wrestling competition organised by the Public Banjrangi Akhara Dangal Committee, Bishnah.
MLA Bishnah Ashwani Sharma, besides hundreds of wrestling lovers were also present on the occasion.
During the competition, the wrestlers from various States like Punjab, Delhi, Haryana, Jammu and Kashmir participated.
On the occasion, the first winner wrestlers was awarded with Motorcycle, while second and third get a Buffalo and washing machine respectively.
Bhalla and Ashwani Sharma gave away the awards.
on the occasion, Bhalla praised the organizers for conducting such type of event which will help the state wrestlers of the state to further improve their skills. These events also help in promoting friendly relationship among the people of different cultures and traditions. He hoped that committee will continue such type of efforts to encourage the sports talent in the State.
The Minister highlighted various reformative steps having taken up by the Government in making available all necessary sports facilities to the players of the State especially those living in rural and far-off pockets. He said that the Government was also initiating various measures to promote rural conventional sports of the State.
Bhalla said besides construction of playfields at block and Panchayat level under PYKKA, the Government has also taken up various mega projects to develop modern sports infrastructure to facilitate the youth. He described sports as best mediums to channelize energies of men in a right direction.
