Sports activities organized under SVEEP

REASI, Mar 12: A series of rural sports activities especially Indian Style of Wrestling and Kabaddi were started by the district administration in various hilly and remote areas of the district Reasi for eliciting greater response in forthcoming elections through electoral education of voters, promoting ethical voting. The sports series also includes fencing competitions and free style boxing. The series has been launched under the SVEEP campaign Jashn-e-Jamhuriat.
Department of Youth Services and Sports in collaboration with Education and Rural Development Department is organising innovative series under guidance of District Election Officer (Deputy Commissioner) Reasi Dr Shahid Iqbal Choudhary.
The campaign of rural sports is headed by Rajinder Singh Tara Additional Deputy Commissioner and coordinated as well as organized by Dr S S Chib DYSSO Reasi. President, Indian Style of Wrestling Federation Shiv Kumar Sharma has extended active cooperation to organize these events in remote areas.
All the venues of these rural sports competitions and events also host EVM training camps and a series of cultural programmes are also being organized to create awareness among the voters. The rural sports series is generating enthusiasm among the youth in remote areas and is expected to generate more response in forthcoming Lok Sabha elections.
Winners of these competitions will receive special awards from the District Election Officer after culmination of the series. Electoral awareness camps gained more momentum after launch of another outreach programme after already ongoing programmes of plantation drive, blood donation camps and electoral photo exhibition camps.
At block level the playgrounds have been face lifted for these events and active cooperation has been extended by various departments in organized these events. In last stage the sports events are being organized in Reasi and Katra towns. Electoral participation pledge is an integral part of the events and voters are also made aware about inducement free ethical voting.
