Sports activities develop moral character among youth: Sunil Sharma

HIRANAGAR, Jan 31: Sports activities infuse positive thoughts and develop moral character among youth, besides developing their physical and mental fitness.
This was stated by Sunil Kumar Sharma, Minister of State for Youth Services and Sports and Transport (Independent Charge) as chief guest on the closing ceremony of the Hiranagar Invitational Football Cup at Sports Stadium, here today.
The Minister was accompanied by MLA Hiranagar Kuldeep on the occasion.
A total of 22 teams drawn from across the state participated in the tournament.
The final match was played between Param Football Club of Jammu and Novelty Football Club of Kashmir, which was won by Novelty FC Kashmir via penalty shootouts.
The tournament was organized by Hiranagar Football Club in collaboration with Youth Services and Sports Department.
Speaking on the occasion, the Minister said that for the extensive promotions of the sports activities, the Central Government has launched Khelo India Programme for providing equal opportunities to all to showcase the talent in the field of sports and state government has also followed the same path by giving mega boost to the programme.
He lauded the efforts of the Youth Services and Sports Department for organizing big number of tournaments to promote budding sportspersons.
