‘Spirit of India Run’ received at J&K border

KATHUA, Mar 24:  The ‘Spirit of India Run’,  an initiative of the former Australian Parliamentarian, Pat Farmer  and Ministry of Tourism, Govt of India today entered Jammu and Kashmir State from bordering State Punjab.
Dr Bharat Bhushan, Chief Executive Officer, Lakhanpur- Sarthal Development Authority received  the `Spirit of India Run’ led by  Pat Farmer at border village Nagri near Jandial Check Post.  The ceremonial welcome was accorded to the team by a contingent of Police band of  Sardar Prithinandan Singh Police Training School, Kathua.
The Additional Deputy Commissioner, Pathankot,  Khalil Poswal, Additional SP Kathua,  Tariq Naik, Nodal Officer, `Spirit of India Run’, SDM Dhar Kalan, Punjab and others were present on the occasion.
The CEO,  LSDA apprised that  former Australian Parliamentarian has started  `Spirit of India Run’ from Kanya Kumari on  January 26, 2016  and the `Run’ will culminate at Srinagar,  Kashmir on  March 31, 2016 after covering various States of the Country. He said that Ministry of Tourism and J&K  Tourism Department has coordinated Spirit of India Run in the State.  He further added that the main thrust of the event is to showcase the tourist and historical places of the Country and State to the world in order to promote tourism.
Mr Pat, the leader of the  Spirit of India Run told that the sole motive of his undertaking the long run is to experience India and promote mutual understanding and  people to people contact.  Pat said that he will try to promote cooperation between India and Australia in the fields of Tourism, Education, Science and Technology and Environment. He  thanked District Administration, Kathua and Pathankot and all those present on the occasion for furthering the cause of the Run. Later, the `Spirit of India Run’ left for its onward Journey towards Jammu.
