JAMMU, Nov 2: Spic Macay in association with Model Institute of Engineering and Technology (MIET) organized a flute recital by renowned international practitioner, flute and shehnai guru Pt. Rajendra Prasanna.
He was accompanied by Lalit Kumar on the tabla.
The ‘jugalbandi’ of Pt. Prasanna and tabla maestro Lalit Kumar reverberated through the MIET auditorium giving a high quality auditory experience to over 300 faculty and students in the audience.
Pt. Prasanna started with a Pahari rendition and ended with Raag Bhairavi during the one-hour power-packed performance which left the audience spellbound and asking for more.
On audience demand the international flautist from the “Banaras” gharana also played some Sufi and Kashmiri pieces which were appreciated by the audience.
The artists were accompanied by Dr. Sapna Sangra, State Chairperson & Spic Macay Coordinator J&K State and Dr. Seema Rohmetra, Spic Macay Coordinator Jammu Chapter who also coordinated the event.
Prof. Ankur Gupta, Director, MIET welcomed the artists and expressed gratitude to Spic Macay for organizing a cultural evening at MIET which also helped spread awareness and create appreciation for our rich cultural heritage and music.
He later felicitated the artists and also expressed his desire to setup a local Spic Macay Heritage Club at MIET.
