JAMMU, Feb 5: Five day long ‘Spic Macay Circuit’ will commence from tomorrow.
According to Dr Sapna Kamal Sangra, Spic Macay Coordinator, J&K, Mahua Shankar, a disciple of the legendary figure of Indian classical dance, Padma Vibhushan Pandit Birju Maharaj and also a Gandha Bandh Shaagird (Disciple ) of the great Sarangi Maestro Ustad Ghulam Sabir Khan is arriving tomorrow for a five day Spic Macay Circuit. She will perform in 9 schools along with Nupur Shankar (vocalist), Mithilesh Jha (Tabla) and Fateh Ali Khan (Sitar). The programme is sponsored by Indira Gandhi National Centre for the Arts, New Delhi, she added.
Tommorrow the programme will be held at GD Goenka. On February 7 at KC Public School and KC International School, on February 8 at JMPS and Heritage Schools, on February 9 at Model Academy and Alexander Memorial and on February 10 at Tiny Tots Higher Secondary School and JP World”, Dr Sangra informed.
“All programs are open to members of civil society. People from all walks of life and any age group can become a part of the movement”, said Dr Sapna Kamal Sangra.
She however, expressed lack of support coming from Degree Colleges who inspite of being contacted several times have not responded positively.
Dr Seema Rohmetra, Spic Macay Coordinator for Jammu Region expressed her satisfaction with the way more schools are coming forward and leading to an increase in our volunteer base.
