Soumay, bowlers take KCCC to finals in JKCA Premier C’ship

JAMMU, June 16: Talented speedster Soumay Jain was simply lethal today as he wrecked havoc along with the other bowlers to help Kishen Chand Cricket Club (KCCC) thrash Laxmi Cricket Club in an easy contest by 8 wickets to seal berth in the finals of the ongoing JKCA Premier Cricket Championship, being organized by the Jammu and Kashmir Cricket Association, under the supervision of retired Judge, Jang Bahadur Singh Jamwal at GGM Science College Hostel ground, here.
Earlier, winning the toss and batting first, Laxmi Cricket Club bundled out for 74 runs in 22 overs. Amandeep Singh top scored with 26 runs off 20 balls, studded with 4 fours and one six, while Pardeep Bali and Anuj contributed 18 and 16 runs to the total. Soumay Jain was the pick of the bowlers for KCCC, who captured 3 important wickets by conceding just 6 runs in his four overs. He bowled with plenty of pace and swing, not to talk of nagging line and teasing length. Ramdayal, Vishal and skipper Manik Gupta claimed 2 wickets each.
In reply, KCCC chased the target in 14.3 overs by losing 2 wickets, thus won the match by 8 wickets. Jatin Wadhawan top scored with 39 runs off 48 balls with 5 boundaries, while Raman Thaploo contributed unbeaten 14 runs off 15 balls, including 2 boundaries. Bharti and Govind took 1 wicket each for Laxmi Cricket Club. Soumay Jain of KCCC was adjudged as the man of the match for his brilliant bowling display.
Former Member BCCI and Working Committee Member JKCA, Ankush Abrol, the mentor of KCCC was present on the occasion, who congratulated his team emerging victorious and qualifying for the finals.
The match was officiated by Ashok Singh, Sham Singh Langeh and Rahul Kumar.
Now, on June 18, 2018, Patel Cricket Club will take on KC Sports Club in Under-16 Tournament at 6:30 am, while Vishal Rising Stars will lock horns with Blue Star Cricket Club at 12 noon.
