JAMMU, Dec 20: To bridge the gap between human organ availability and it’s requirement, State Organ and Tissue Transplant Organization (SOTTO) J&K, in collaboration with Department of Applied Art, Institute of Music and Fine Arts (IMFA), University of Jammu, organised a poster making and face painting competition on the theme ‘Life After Death’, here today.
Around 50 students from the department participated and gave a message of ”saving lives after death simply by pledging organs while living” for their requirement after death.
Dr Sanjeev Puri, Joint Director, SOTTO J&K, cleared all the myths related to human organ donation prevailing in society. The gap of organ availability and organ requirement can only be filled by pledging our organs for donation, he said.
Prof Shohab Inayat Malik, Principal IMFA, also motivated the students to come forward and pledge for organ donation for the noble cause of humanity.
Prof Rakesh Sharma, HOD, Department of Applied Art, said that our thinking should be that after death we can save lives of others by organ donation. Dr Amarjeet Singh, Assistant Professor, Department of Applied Art, motivated the students to help others in this noble act, so that someone can live a life of happiness.
In poster making competition, Sachin Kumar, Reet Gupta and Arnavi Sharma secured 1st, 2nd and 3rd positions respectively and consultation prize was given to Vaishali Mehra.
In face painting competition, Divisha Jandial and Jaskaran secured 1st position, Priya Manhas and Pranav Rajesh secured 2nd and Shruti Sharma and Priyanka Choudhary claimed 3rd position.
Vaneeka Gupta, faculty member, Shuv Kumar, faculty member, Anshu Sharma, Consultant (IEC/Media) SOTTO J&K, Dr Irfan Lone (Transplant Coordinator) SOTTO J&K and Nisha Choudhary, SOTTO J&K coordinated the whole event.
