Sopore Sports, Syndicate enter semis

SOPORE, July 19: Scripting convincing wins over their rivals in the quarterfinal matches today, the Sopore Sports Club and Syndicate Club Sopore qualified for the semifinals of the ongoing 1st Sopore T20 Cricket Tournament, being organised by the Jammu and Kashmir Police Department, under Civic Action Programme at Khushal Stadium, here.
Earlier, in the first match Sopore Sports Club Club trounced Police Team Sopore by 43 runs in an easy contest.
Batting first Sopore Sports scored 167 runs in the allotted 20 overs by losing 8 wickets, while in reply, Police Team managed only 124 runs in 19 overs by losing all the wickets, thus lost the match by 43 runs. Shahid played a power-packed innings of 48 runs in just 12 balls.
In another match, Syndicate Sopore defeated United Cricket Club by 6 wickets to seal berth in the semifinals.
United Club, batting first scored 163 runs in the stipulated 20 overs by losing 9 wickets, which in reply, Syndicate Sopore chased in 19 overs by losing 4 wickets to win the match by 6 wickets. Imtiyaz Ahmed was adjudged man of the match for his blistering knock of 92 runs.
