JAMMU, Jan 12: Param Football Club and Vijay Club Jammu registered victories by solitary goals over their rivals to move into the pre-quarterfinals of the ongoing Christmas Cup Football Tournament, being organized by All J&K Christian Welfare Association under the supervision of its president SM Gill at Mini Stadium Parade, here.
In the first match, Param FC trounced Hero Club by a solitary goal. The goal scorer was Stanzin, who pelted a superb goal through a penalty kick in the 25th minute of the match. Earlier, the players of both the teams played brilliantly and displayed superb soccer skills in the first half, before Hero Club players made a blunder of obstructing the rival player in the ‘D’ to award Param FC a penalty kick. The second half went goalless, to help Param FC win by the same margin.
In another match played today, Vijay Club got better of Mussa Club by one goal to nil (1-0) to move into the pre-quarterfinals. After the goalless first half, Vishal Dogra netted a superb goal in the 40th minute to help his side win by a solitary goal. Players from both the teams displayed defensive as well as offensive skills during the match.
The matches were officiated by Moon Stephen, Client Mattoo, Saudagar Mattoo, Vivek, Ramesh Chander and Vijay Kumar, while David and Don are the organizing secretaries of the tournament. Feastus Sotra is general secretary of All J&K Christian Welfare Association.
