JAMMU, Feb 15: Top rated player of J&K, young Soham Kamotra won Jammu District Chess Championship held under the banner of All J&K Chess Association (AJKCA) at Hotel Nek, here today.
Sonali Manhas won the gold in women category while Pranav Abrol emerged winner in under-15 boys’ category. Amrita Gupta bagged gold in under-15 girls’ event while under-11 boys title went to Radhika.
Devansh Mahajan won under-11 boys gold while under-11 girls’ title went to Radhika. Viraj Singh Jamwal emerged winner in under-seven boys’ category and the girls under-seven gold bagged by Sanvi Mengi.
Senior Prosecuting Officer, Raj Kumar distributed prizes among the winners.
All the gold medal winners were presented a cash prize of Rs 500 each along with certificate and medals.
Also present on the occasion were Atul Kumar Gupta (president AJKCA), Baldev Raj (vice president), Kuljeet Singh Jamwal (chairman chess in school program) and Sanjeev Gupta (president Jammu District Chess Association).
