SMVDU organizes ‘Run for Health Marathon’

KATRA, Apr 22: Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University (SMVDU), Katra successfully organized ‘Run for Health Marathon’ here today.
The Marathon event was held on the last day of Annual Sports Fest ‘SARANG-2K18’.
It was 12 kms for men and 6 kms for women.
About 160 athletes drawn from faculties, staff and the students participated in the event to vie for the top honours.
Ankita Tiwary, Shreya Anand and Kanika Singh secured 1st, 2nd and 3rd position respectively in girls category, while Prasad Birajdar, Balbirsingh and Rohitsingh secured 1st, 2nd and 3rd position respectively in boys category.
In women category, Pawan Sharma, Kanta Bhutyal and Harmeet Kaur secured 1st, 2nd and 3rd position respectively, while in men category, Surender Singh, Sanjeev Wadhawan and Jai Karan secured 1st, 2nd and 3rd position respectively. Gatka (Sikh Marshall Art) performance was also organized during the prize distribution ceremony.
The Marathon was started by the flag off ceremony done by chief guest Prof D. Mukhopadhyay, Dean, Faculty of Management. Dean Student Welfare, Dr. YugalKhajuria, Dr VK Dogra, I/c sports Rajiv Kumar, Dr Supinder Singh, sports coach Sucha Singh and Sumit Sharma were present during the event.
The event was organized by Board for Sports Activities.
Vice Chancellor Dr Sanjeev Jain congratulated all the winners and appreciated the organizing team for their endeavors.
