SRINAGAR, Apr 23: The J&K Sky Running Association will be organising Sky Running Championship at Gantal to Parashute Point Astanmarg in collaboration with Foreshore Athletes Club Shalimar, here on April 28.
Skyrunning is an extreme sport of mountain running above 2,000 metres (6,600 ft) where the incline exceeds 30 per cent and the climbing difficulty does not exceed II° grade.
The sport comprises a number of different disciplines from the short, steep vertical kilometer to the more popular.
Top Sky runners of district Srinagar are expected to take part in this competition, a handout issued by the Association here today informed.
Those winning athletes shall be selected for national and international level events in near future.
