SKK’s Deaf & Dumb students lift National Deaf Judo Trophy

JAMMU, Jan 28: The Deaf and Dumb students of the School for Hearing Handicapped being run by a noted NGO, J&K Samaj Kalyan Kendra (SKK), who constituted Jammu & Kashmir team have lifted 7th National Deaf Judo Championship (Senior Group).
This Championship is being organised by the Deaf Judo Association of India annually. This year’s tournament was held at Gorakhpur in Uttar Pradesh.
Vishal Khajuria was declared the overall Best Judoka of the Tournament.
The School has sent 27 students including 7 ex-students for the Championship, 13 of them won medals. These include three gold, four silver and six bronze medals.
Vishal Khajuria, Rakshida Mehak and Shikha Kumari bagged gold medals and Nidra-ul- Nisa, Sudha Choudhary and Rakesh Singh won silver medals. The bronze medalists included Paramjeet Sharma, Nabeel Ahmad Dar, Sunil Kumar, Aijaz Ahmad, Rohit Kumar and Gulshan Sharma.
The President of the NGO, KB Jandial congratulated the School team for their outstanding performance and commended the medalists. He also lauded the contribution of the Sports Council coach Suraj Bhan Singh and Assistant Coach Ritika Jamwal for imparting
training to the students.
The J&K Samaj Kalyan Kendra has announced cash awards for the medallists. The gold medallist will be given a cash award of Rs 3000, silver medallist Rs 2000 and bronze medallist Rs 1500.
