SKK Divyangs shine in BOSE exams

JAMMU, July 5: The students of the School for Hearing and Speech Handicapped Jammu, run by a well-known NGO-Jammu & Kashmir Samaj Kalyan Kendra, have once again registered cent percent results in all J&K Board of School Education examinations.
In Higher Secondary examination ( 12th class), the result of which was declared yesterday, all the five deaf and dumb students got distinction with Deepak securing first position in the School with 89.8 percent marks. VidhiManto with 89.6 percent marks stood second in the School. Other students scored 86. 2 to 89 percent marks.
In Matric also, seven out of 12 students scored distinction including Deepti Pandit stood first in the School with 87 percent marks, while Akash Nanda with 85.87 percent stood second. Matriculation result was declared on June 29.
The NGO awards at a special function cash awards to the School toppers of all Board examinations ranging from Rs 2500 for topper of Middle class to Rs 5000 for 12th class topper. Cash ward of Rs 3500 was awarded to topper of class 10th besides some other members also announced their personal awards to recognise their exceptional effort and talent overcoming their physical deficiencies.
In another initiative to motivate the Divyangs to continue their higher studies and join some professional courses outside J&K for better future, the SKK has created a fund with contributions by the life members, to reimburse their 50 percent fee per semester as most of these students come from poor or lower middle class family background.
