JAMMU, Dec 9: Government Higher Secondary School Akhnoor today defeated HSS Sunjuwan in straight sets in the Inter-School Volleyball Tournament, which was declared open by Minister for Education, Naeem Akhtar yesterday.
The Tournament was organized by 160 Battalion of Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) at HSS Sunjuwan.
Anoop Yadav, Captain of Indian Kabaddi team was the chief guest on the concluding ceremony, while Deputy Commissioner Jammu, Simrandeep Singh and DIG, CRPF were the guests of honour.
A total of eight team participated in this event to vie for the top honours.
Speaking on the occasion, the Indian Kabaddi team skipper, Mr Anoop said that he also rose to prominence by sheer dint of hard-work and dedication. He motivated the budding sportspersons and asked them to play well under the supervision of their coaches and follow a disciplined life.
The winning team of HSS Akhnoor was awarded a cash prize of Rs 20,000 and a trophy and the runners-up team of HSS Sunjuwan received a cash prize of Rs 15,000 and a trophy.
The programme was conducted under the supervision of Surinder Mehra, Commandanat of 160 Battalion CRPF with the cooperation of District Administration.
Speaking on the occasion, Deputy Commissioner said that the presence of Anoop Yadav, the captain of World Cup winning Kabadi team of India would prove highly inspirational and morale boosting for the school children.
He thanked the chief guest on behalf of District Administration for taking out time despite his highly busy schedule to grace the occasion.
The Deputy Commissioner also thanked CRPF for bringing sports to Govt Schools and encouraging the budding players.
