JAMMU, Oct 29: Singh Club, Bandhu Rakh and BSF Jammu outclassed rivals in their respective matches and advanced to the next round of the ongoing 2nd Shaheed Baba Banda Singh Bahadur Memorial Hockey Tournament, being organized by Hockey J&K in collaboration with Kashmir Sikh Sangat (KSS) at KK Hakku Astro Turf Stadium, here today.
In the first match, Singh Club, Bandhu Rakh defeated MBS Hockey Club, Simbal Camp by straight five goals to zero.
In the first half, players of both the teams entered the ground with enthusiasm and passion. They started trading the goal side of each other and in the 22nd minute, Avneet of Singh Club after finding a gap netted the first goal of the match.
The players of MBS Club failed to level the game and the first half ended with one goal lead over them.
In the second half, passionate Avneet bounced back, scored the goal in 32nd minute and raised the lead over opponent team by 2-0.
Promising Agandeep of Singh Club netted the goals in 45th and 55th minutes, thus raising the lead over MBS College by 4-0. In the second last minute of the second half, Maninder netted the goal, which shattered the dream of MBS Club to win the match.
In the second match, BSF Jammu registered win over Zorawar Club Satwari by 5-0. Navjeet Singh of BSF Jammu netted the first goal of the match in 8th minute of the first half. Vikran raised the lead over Zorawar Club by scoring the goal in the 12th minute.
Giving no relief to Zorawar Club, enthusiastic Navjeet Singh netted the goal in the 17th minute and raised the lead over opponent team by 3-0.
In 25th minute, Navjeet with his exemplary skills netted the goal in the 25th minute and the first half ended with 4-0 lead over Zorawar Club.
In the second half, Viday of BSF Jammu scored the goal in 32nd minute and further raised the scorecard to 5-0.
The players of Zorawar Club put in their stern efforts and traded the goal side of BSF Jammu to win the match, but failed and the match ended with 5-0 goals.
In the first match, the chief guest was JB Singh Bali, Ex-Joint Secretary, J&K State Sports Council and Prof Roshan Singh was guest of honour, whereas in the second match, Fateh Singh, Member, SGPC was the chief guest, while Karanjit Singh, General Secretary, KSS was the guest of honour. All the members of KSS and Hockey J&K were also present on the occasion.
The matches were officiated by Jagjeet Singh, Joginder Singh, JS Reen, Manjeet Singh and Amarjeet Singh.
