JAMMU, Apr 5: Singh Club Bandhu Rakh emerged victorious and lifted the trophy of the Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Hockey Tournament after defeating Khalsa Club Gole Gujral in a thrilling final played today at KK Hakku Stadium, Jammu.
Both teams displayed exceptional skill and determination, launching continuous attacks on each other’s goalposts. Singh Club Bandhu Rakh secured an early advantage by scoring two quick goals before halftime. Khalsa Club responded strongly and reduced the deficit, making the score 2-1. However, Singh Club maintained their dominance by adding two more goals before the end of the third quarter.
Despite a spirited fightback by Khalsa Club, Singh Club Bandhu Rakh capitalized on their early lead and ultimately sealed a convincing 5-3 victory to claim the championship trophy.
Sher Singh, ADDC Jammu, graced the occasion as the chief guest, while Gurdev Singh, founder member of Khalsa Club was the guest of honour. The chief guest appreciated the efforts of the organizers and emphasized the importance of continuing such sporting events to combat the growing menace of drug abuse among youth.
Prominent dignitaries present on the occasion included Balvinder Singh, Vice President DGPC Jammu, Paramjit Singh, Dr Taran Singh, Iqbal Singh, Satvir Singh Satti, MS Reen, Harkirat Singh and others.
