JAMMU/KATHUA, May 24: Singh Cricket Club Akhnoor defeated Rudhra Cricket Club by 4 wickets at GGM Science College Hostel ground Jammu, while Sohar XI Kathua defeated Kathua Super Giants in a thrilling contest by 1 wicket at Police Lines ground Kathua, in the ongoing District Level Cricket Tournament, being organised by the Jammu and Kashmir Cricket Association (JKCA) across the State.
At Kathua, winning the toss and batting first, Kathua Super Giants scored a good total of 227 runs in 39.2 overs. Rahul top scored with 82 runs, while Shubam contributed 47 runs to the total. From Sohar XI Kathua, Yudhvir took 4 wickets and Pankaj claimed one.
In reply, Sohar XI Kathua chased the target in 30.4 overs by losing 9 wickets, thus won the match in an exciting contest by 1 wicket. Mohd Zahid and Sunny Khajuria contributed 35 and 34 runs to the toal respectively. From Kathua Super Giants, Nandan took 4 wickets and Sunny Luthra bagged 2 wickets. Rahul was declared as the man of the match.
At Jammu, Batting first, Rudhra Cricket Club scored 94 runs, while Singh Cricket Club chased the target easily by losing 6 wickets to win the match by 4 wickets.
The matches were officiated by Arun Singh, Jatinder, Rohit Sharma, Vijay Raina, Rahul and Saleem-ur-Rehman.
