JAMMU, Feb 9: Simula Cricket Club and Road Safety Cricket XI registered convincing victories over their rivals in the ongoing 5th Road & Safety T20 Cricket Championship at KC Sports Ground, here.
The tournament is being organized by the Transport Department in collaboration with KC Sports Club Jammu. RK Bhat SSP is the Organizing Secretary, while Rajesh Gill, Chief Prosecuting Officer and Former Ranji Player is the Coordinator of the event.
Earlier, in the first match, Simula Cricket Club defeated Vishal Cricket Club by 52 runs.
Batting first, Simula Club scored 113 runs in 19.4 overs. Puneet Kumar (29), Akash Choudhary (25) and Sahil (10) were the main scorers. From Vishal Club, Rakesh Koul, Rohit, Sandesh and Rahul took 2 wickets each, while Rajesh Gill claimed 1 wicket.
Vishal Cricket Club, in reply, collapsed at 61 runs in 15.3 overs, thus lost the match by 52 runs. Rakesh Koul was the top scorer with 26 runs, while Jagjit contributed 10 runs. From Simula, Ritik and Kuldeep took 4 wickets each, while Raman bagged 2 wickets.
In another match, Road Safety XI scripted an emphatic win over KC Sports Club.
Batting first, Road & Safety made 135 runs in 20 overs for the loss of 5 wickets. Maqsood (28), Rompy (21) and Irshad (20) were the main scorers.
From KC Sports Club, Sahil, Vijay and Hisham claimed 1 wicket each.
In reply, KC Sports Club managed to score 119 runs in 19.2 overs, thus lost the match by 16 runs. Abhishant top scored with 49 runs, while Abhinav and Hisham contributed 25 and 16 runs resepctively.
From Road & Safety, Majid took 4 wickets, while Zubair took 2 wickets. Arvind and Sahil claimed 1 wicket each.
The matches were officiated by Ashok, Vijay and Vinod.
