Simula Club lifts 2nd Christmas T20 Cricket Cup title

JAMMU, May 31: Simula Cricket Club outplayed Samar Cricket Club in an exciting contest by 2 wickets to lift the title trophy of the 2nd Christmas T20 Cricket Cup, organized jointly by Christian Sports Organisation and Range Police Headquarters Jammu at KC Sports Club ground, here today.
DIG Jammu-Kathua Range, Shakeel Ahmed Beig was the chief guest on the valedictory function, while Fr Kuriakose, Chairman, Christian Sports Organisation was the guest of honour. Principal KC Public School, Amarendra Mishra was the special guest.
Mr Beig was also accompanied by Rajnish Pran SP, SO to DIG Jammu, Parshotam Sharma, Deputy Director Prosecution RPHQ Jammu and Sanjay Parihar, SDPO Domana.
Chief guest lavished praise for the organizers in holding the mega event, while guest of honour thanked the Range Police Headquarters Jammu for holding the event under Civic Action Programme.
President CSO and former Ranji Trophy player, Rajesh Gill was the organizing secretary of the Tournament, while other organizing committee members included Asif Gill, Sandeep Singh Sunny, Lal Gill, Victor Sotra, David Mattoo, Sunil Sambyal, Anand Tripathi and Shashi Paul.
Earlier, batting first, Samar Cricket Club scored a modest total of 138 runs in the stipulated 18 overs, losing 6 wickets in the progress. Jatin Wadhawan top scored with 30 runs, while Monu and Naushad contributed 27 and 16 runs to the total. For Simula Club, Amit Sharma and Sumit scalped 2 wickets each, while Amandeep Singh and Dhruv Mahajan claimed one wicket each.
In reply, Simula Club chased the target on the last ball of the innings in a tight contest by losing 8 wickets, thus won the match by 2 wickets. Anshuman was the top scorer with 36 runs, while Atul contributed 28 runs to the total. Naushad took 3 wickets for Samar Club, while Ramdayal bagged 2 and Rohit one. Amit Sharma of Simula Club was declared man of the match, while Nipun Verma was declared best batsman and Chetan Singh Chib was adjudged man of the series.
The match was officiated by Sadiq Hussain Malik and Sandeep Manchanda, while Vinod was the scorer.
