Simula Club, JKP XI register convincing victories

JAMMU, Apr 13: Simula Cricket Club and JKP XI registered empathetic wins over their rivals in their opening matches of the 3rd Baisakhi Premier League T20 Cricket Tournament, which got underway at KC Sports ground, here today.
The tournament in which six premier teams of the Jammu including Simula Club, KC Sports Club, JKP XI, Atman Sports Club, KCC and Star Cricket Club are participating, is being organized jointly by Simula Group, KC Sports Club and J&K Police.
Earlier, Sunil Sharma, IGP Security and former Ranji trophy player inaugurated the tournament in an impressive, well attended and colourful function in presence of Hilal Rather, Rajesh Bakshi, Arjun Choudhary, Rajesh Gill, Rajesh Dhar and Asif Gill,.
While speaking on the occasion, IGP lauded the efforts of the organizing committee for conducting this mega event on the occasion of Baisakhi with the objective to promote communal harmony, peace and brotherhood in the State.  He said being a former cricketer, he loves to watch budding cricketers perform.
Earlier, in first match, Simula Club defeated KC Sports Club by 64 runs.
Batting first, Simula Club made a huge total of 161 runs in the allotted 20 overs for the loss of 9 wickets with Anshuman scoring 69 runs off 42 balls and Hardeep contributing 19 runs off 11 balls. Manik and Bandeep took 2 wickets each for KC Sports Club, while Parveen, Sahil and Nitin took 1 wicket each.
In reply, KC  Sports Club bundled out for paltry total of 97 runs, thus lost the match by 64 runs. Nitin Mehra top scored with 50 runs in 22 balls, while Sandeep Singh and Paras Sharma contributed 18 and 8 runs runs to the total respectively. Hardeep Singh was the wrecker-in-chief, who took 5 important wickets, while Sameer Khajuria took 3 wickets, while Mohit Puri and Vivek Thappa took 2 wickets each. Dhruv Mahajan also claimed one wicket. Hardeep Singh of Simula Club was adjudged man of the match.
In another match, JKP XI beat Star Cricket Club by 38 runs.
Batting first, JKP XI scored 141 runs in allotted 20 overs for the loss of 3 wickets . Openers Avinash 75 runs in 39 balls and skipper Rajesh Gill 59 runs in 44 balls were the main scorers. Sunil, Irshad and Nana shared 1 wicket each for Star Cricket Club.
In reply, Star Club managed to score 103 runs to lose the match by 38 runs. Akshay and Nana contributed 20 runs each. Rompy took 4 wickets, while Rajesh Gill took 3 wickets and Rakesh Koul claimed 2 wickets for JKP XI. Sakib also took one wicket. Rajesh Gill of JKP XI was declared man of the match.
In another match, Simula beat KCC by 9 wickets. Batting first, KCC scored only 79 runs in allotted 16 overs for the loss of 9 wickets. Lucky 14 and Goldy 13    were the main scorers for KCC. Mohit took 3 wickets , Sameer, Hilal Rather and Hardeep Singh shared 2 wicket each for Simula Club.
In reply Simula Club chased the target in 5.3 overs for the loss of one wicket. Hilal Rather top scored with 63 runs in 22 balls and Anshuman contributed 17 runs to the total. Neeraj took one wicket for his team. Hilal Rather of Simula was declared man of the match for his swashbuckling knock.
In yet another match, JKP XI beat Atman Cricket Club by 7 wickets. Batting first, Atman Cricket Club scored 78 runs in allotted 16 overs for the loss of all wickets . Munish  33 runs in 22 balls and Kudeep 13  were the main scorers for Atman Cricket Club. Rompy was the main bowler who took 5 wickets. Rakesh took 2 while Rajesh Gill Saqib and Vishal took 1 wicket each for JKP XI.
In reply, JKP XI chased the target 14.5 overs and won the match by 7 wickets. Skipper Rajesh Gill top scored with 27 runs, while Rakesh Koul and Jatin Wadhawan contributed 22 and 14 runs respectively. For Atman Club, Sourav, Munish and Kapil shared 1 wicket each. Rompy of JKP was declared man of the match.
The proceedings of the opening function were conducted by Asif Gill, while the welcome address was presented by Rajesh Gill, organizing secretary of the tournament.
The matches were officiated by Suhail Yousuf, Sunil Sambyal, Anand Tripathi and Faisal. The organizing committee of the Cricket league included Hilal Rather, Arjun Choudhary, Rajesh Dhar, Asif Gill and Rajesh Gill.
