Simula Club, Gandhi Nagar Club crush rivals, register berth in next stage

JAMMU, July 4: Simula Cricket Club (SCC) and Gandhi Nagar Cricket Club (GNCC) crushed rivals in their respective league matches and registered berth in the next stage of the ongoing Chevrolet Cricket Cup, being played at KC Public School cricket ground.
In the first match of the day, Simula Cricket Club (SCC) registered win over Shastri Cricket Club (SCC) by 9 wickets and sailed into next round of the tournament.
Electing to bat first after winning the toss, Shastri Club scored 93 runs in 20 over. Amit and Gourav scored 25 and 14 runs respectively.
From Simula Club side, Puneet and Thappa scalped 2 wickets each.
In reply, Simula Club chased the target in 6.4 overs for the loss of just one wicket. Puneet was top scorer with 39 runs and Atul Sharma made 36 runs.
From Shastri Club side, Mohit was the lone wicket taker.
Puneet of Simula Club was declared as man of the match.
The second match of the day was played between Colonel RN Chopra Cricket Academy and Gandhi Nagar Cricket Club (GNCC), in which latter emerged winner by 5 wickets.
Batting first, Colonel RN Chopra Cricket Academy set a target of 78 runs for all out in 17 overs. Deepak Baba and Abhishek Abrol made 17 and 15 runs respectively.
From GNCC side, Vickey was the pick of the bowler with 3 wickets, whereas Sant Dakash took 2 wickets.
In the second inning, GNCC chased the target in 14.2 overs for the loss of 5 wickets. Abhinav Puri scored 28 runs and remained not out, whereas and Gulshan scored 21 runs.
Vickey of Gandhi Nagar Cricket Club (GNCC) was adjudged as man of the match.
The matches were officiated by Abhijot Singh Bedi, Rajinder Singh, Honey Chib, Sadiq Hussain Malik and Bunty Kumar.
