Sikkim, Assam boys register wins, HP eves drub J&K

JAMMU, June 13: Sikkim and Assam boys defeated their rivals convincingly, while HP girls thrashed their counterparts from Jammu and Kashmir and Uttar Pradesh girls held Assam girls to draw in the ongoing ‘Oorja’ Football Talent Hunt Tournament, being organised by Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB) in collaboration with University of Jammu at varsity grounds, here.
In the first match played today, Sikkim boys defeated Telangana boys by three goals to two (3-2) in a closer contest. Nikesh Gurung scored 2 goals for Sikkim, while Amrit Tomang pelted 1 goal.
In the match of girls section in morning session, HP girls defeated Jammu and Kashmir eves by three goals to nil (3-0). Neha pelted 2 goals for HP, while Rekha scored one.
In the evening session, Assam boys team thrashed HP boys by five goals to nil (5-0).  Puluak Baruah scored 2 goals, while Biplap, Bishnu and Tenson claimed one wicket each.
Meanwhile, in girls section, Assam girls held UP to (1-1) draw. Anjali was the goal scorer from Assam, while Puja Kumari pelted the goal for Uttar Pradesh.
Prominent among those who witnessed matches were Manvendra, DIG SHQ Jammu; PK Gupta, DIG Training; Ajay Kumar, Commandant 66 Battalion SSB Jammu; Rakesh Kumar, Commandant 7 Battalion SSB Batote; K Ranjit, Commandant SHQ Pilibhit; VS Jamwal, Second-In-Command, besides Deputy Commandants Barjeet Singh, Jeet Lal, Sanjeev Kumar and Kasturi.
