SAMBA, July 3: Popular wrestling event of North India was held on Monday at village Siddh Swankha, Ramgarh, here.
Around 200 bouts were held between the wrestlers drawn from across the country.
The 1st bout was won by Paramjeet Singh Pamma from Dera Baba Nanak, defeating Sonu from Delhi.
The winner was presented a cash prize of Rs 70,000, while the runners-up wrestler received a cash award of Rs 30,000.
The 2nd bout was held between Sukhdev from Punjab and Pavinder from Punjab and the 3rd between Babu from Babbiyali Punjab and Farooq from Sarore, Jammu.
On the occasion, State Vice Chairman of OBC and MoS Rash Paul Verma was the chief guest, who inaugurated the wrestling in presence of Mahant Girdhari Nath ji (Mahant of Gaddi Bawa Siddh Goria Nath Ji), while Mahant Peer Ravi Nath ji from Peer Kho Jammu presided over the function.
Prominent amongst others who were present during the function were SDM Vijaypur, Ravinder Sharma; Tehsildar Ramgarh, RK Chalotra; BDO Ramgarh, Mukesh Sharma; Jai Sharma, ex Sarpanch Mohan Lal Sharma and ex Sarpanch Davinder Kumar.
