Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Gurukul celebrates Annual Day

JAMMU, Sept 5: Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Gurukul, Charan Paduka, Katra celebrated its 7th Annual Day by organizing an impressive function at the Spiritual Growth Centre, Katra.
Prof S Sudarsana Sharma, Former Vice-Chancellor, Shri Venkateswara Vedic University, Tirupati, was the chief guest on the occasion, while Prof YK Mishra, presided over the function. Major General SK Sharma (Retd), Member Shrine Board, was the special guest and Prof Vishwamurty Shastri, was the guest of honour.
Prof Sharma lit the ceremonial lamp in the presence of other dignitaries to mark the commencement of the Annual Day function.
Speaking on the occasion, Prof Sharma advised the students to work hard and make best use of the facilities provided by the Board. He also highlighted the importance of Sanskrit language.
Prof Sharma gave away prizes and certificates to the meritorious students who have excelled in academics, sports and various other extra-curricular activities.
Prof YK Mishra dwelt on the relevance of ancient Indian wisdom in modern life, while Prof Vishwamurty Shastri threw light on the growth of the Gurukul.
Earlier, Dr MK Kumar, Additional CEO of the Shrine Board in his welcome address gave details about the functioning of the Gurukul and the constant endeavours being made to develop it as one among top ranking institutions of the country.
Anshul Garg, Additional CEO, SMVDSB presented mementos to Prof Sharma, Prof Mishra, Major General SK Sharma (Retd) and Prof Vishwamurty Shastri. Dr Arvind Karwani, Deputy CEO, SMVDSB and Administrator of the Gurukul presented the vote of thanks.
Dr Devendra Rijal, Vice Principal of the Gurukul, presented Annual Report of the institution.
On the occasion, the students of the Gurukul staged an impressive Sanskrit play, “Pranahuti” and a skit in Hindi “Sab Kuchh Sadak Par”, which were highly appreciated by the audience.
Among those present on the occasion were officers and staff of the Shrine Board, a large number of parents of the students, faculty and staff of the Gurukul.
