JAMMU, May 20: Bringing laurels to Jammu and Kashmir, promising fencer Shreya Gupta has been selected to represent India in the prestigious Senior Women Sabre World Cup to be held in Peru from May 22 to 24, 2026.
Shreya will be part of the elite Indian contingent alongside Olympian Bhavani Devi from Tamil Nadu, Jafferlin from Tamil Nadu and Akhire Sharma from Haryana. Her selection was finalized after three-phase trials conducted by the Fencing Association of India.
A senior gold medalist this year, Shreya has consistently impressed with her exceptional performances on the national circuit. Hailing from Jammu and Kashmir, her achievement has brought immense pride to the region and inspired aspiring sportspersons. She has been training at Vijay Bharat Academy, Ahmedabad for the last four years under experienced coaches.
