JAMMU, Jan 10: Shivani Charak, an international sport climber was conferred Duggar Gaurav Adventure Award for excellence in sport climbing by Tawi Trekkers J&K in a function at Press Club Jammu wherein Dr Raghav Langer, Secretary Planning Development and Monitoring Department was the chief guest, here today.
She was honoured with a Dogra Pagri, a blazer, a bouquet, a chunni, a framed citation, Duggar Gaurav Adventure Award and a cash prize of Rs 21000 by a galaxy of dignitaries including the chief guest, presiding guest Anil Goswami, former Home Secretary of India; patrons of the Club Ashwani Sharma, former MLA and Rahul Sharma.
The guests of honour were Director Tourism Jammu, Vivekanand Rai and Additional Secretary YS&S Neelam Khajuria besides co chairman, Zorawar Singh Jamwal and president Ram Khajuria and general secretary Shawetica Khajuria.
The other prominent persons who were honoured on the 40th anniversary and prize distribution function of the Club were RBS Jamwal and Arjun Singh, while Sumit Khajuria, a veteran mountaineer, Shilpa Charak, sport climber and Wing Commander Rajesh Mukhi and Anukampa Sharma, both mountaineers with dedication awards.
The dedication awards were presented to mountaineers Sonam Sidharth, Narinder Singh Slathia, Sourav Deep Singh, Sakshi Magotra, Sunil Chakharia and Vishali Sharma, while three officials of schools Satish Bhan, Bharti Bhat and Sudesh Thakur and Ismail Khan from Leh were awarded for promoting this sport.
The awards were also presented to club members, schools and colleges and a journalist for supporting the club in promotion of the sport.
