Shivani bags 1st place in Poetry Recitation

JAMMU, Oct 3: Shivani Anand from Government College for Women Parade, Jammu bagged the first prize in the Inter-Collegiate/Departmental Poetry Recitation Competition, being organized by the Department of Students Welfare, University of Jammu as part of ‘Display Your Talent 2012-13’, here. Aditya Sharma from Government College of Engineering and Technology, Jammu and Nadeem from Trikuta Degree College, Jammu, were adjudged second and third in the Competition, respectively.
The Certificates of Merit were awarded to Arun Dev Singh from The Law School, University of Jammu, Ishtiaq Ahmed from Govt MAM College, Jammu and Ashutosh Khanna from GGM Science College, Jammu.
Dr Jitendra Udhampuri, Prof Zahur-ud-Din and Dr Aruna Sharma were the experts for the said event.
Prof NK Tripathi, Dean Students Welfare, distributed the prizes amongst the winners.
Shivani Anand presented the poem “Footpathon Par Abhi Bhi Soti Hai Duniya, Hain Aazad Par Aazadi Ko Roti Hai Duniya, Abhi Bhookh Ko Peton Mein Dhhoti Hai Duniya, Abhi Kaise Gaaoon Aazadi Ke Naghme”. Aditya Sharma recited the poem “Ashcharya Nahin Hai Mujhko, Iss Saal Bhi Ashwashan Parose Gaye, Bhookhe Ki Thali Main, Bhashan Parose Gaye, Iss Saal Bhi Anaj Sadta Raha Godamon Mein” while Nadeem presented the Gojri Poem “Gora Je Aaya ikk Company Bana Goyo, Ballen-Ballen Oh  Poore Des Per Chha Gaya”.
The participants recited the self composed poems as well as the poetry of the reputed poets in Dogri, Hindi, Urdu, English, Punjabi, Pahari and Gojri languages.
The jam-packed Brig Rajinder Singh Auditorium echoed with the thunderous applause from the audience on the every good piece of poetry. The participants touched the issues such as Women Empowerment, Female Foeticide, Corruption, Inflation and Terrorism etc.
Dr Anju Thapa, was the Teacher Incharge and made the participants conversant with the Rules and Regulations.
The proceedings of the programme were conducted by Vaibhav Sharma.
Among others Dr Sanjay Sharma, Dr Meghna Dhar, Nidhi Kaila, Secretary, Students Cultural Council, Divya Mahajan, Anshu Bala  and Harmeet Kour, Joint Secretary, SCC and were present on the occasion.
