JAMMU, May 13: Shiksha Niketan Senior Secondary School, Jeevan Nagar, Jammu celebrated 108th Birth Anniversary of Late Dev Dutt Mengi, Founder Principal of Shiksha Niketan Establishment with zeal and fervour, here today.
Late Mengi Ji who had retired as District Education Officer was known for his optimistic thinking and love for education. Former Ministe and Senior Congress leader, Raman Bhalla was the chief guest on the occasion.
The dignitaries present on the occasion were MK Wadhera, Ram Khajuria, Sanjay Gupta, Dr Jitendra Udhampuri, ID Soni, Kuldeep Rattan Mengi, Someshwar Mengi, Ashok Wahi, Varinder Suri, Ashok Verma, Pritam Pal Gandotra, Swami Hridayanand Giri Ji, PK Dhar, Ajay Gupta, Vinod Gupta, Ramesh Trakroo, PC Sharma, Vivek Chouhan, MM Joshi, Satpal Gupta, Girish Bhatia, Ganesh, Subash Shastri and Hardev Singh.
Teachers, members of RM charitable Trust and the media persons were also present on the occasion.
The school was beautifully decorated.
All the guests were welcomed with band troop by the Principal Rameshwar Mengi along with the in-charges.
Saplings were presented to all the dignitaries along with the gifts as a token of respect and honour from Shiksha Niketan Family.
The theme of the day was “Teacher- A Role Model for the Society” to pay homage to the great and noble soul of Late Dev Dutt Mengi, who served the society as an ideal teacher.
The function began with the lighting of the ceremonial lamp by the chief guest Raman Bhalla, Principal Rameshwar Mengi and other dignitaries.
The students presented a variety of cultural items on the occasion.
At last, ‘Langer’ was served to all present on the occasion.
